Fenoldopam is a prescription medication used for short-term treatment of severe high blood pressure in hospitalized patients. Fenoldopam belongs to a group of drugs called dopamine agonists. These work by opening up the blood vessels and increasing blood flow to reduce blood pressure. 

This medication comes in an injectable form to be given directly into a vein (IV) by a healthcare professional. It is usually used for no longer than 48 hours.

Common side effects of fenoldopam include increased heart rate, headache, and flushing. Fenoldopam can also cause dizziness. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how fenoldopam affects you.
